I watch my MSN home page and the last month or two has been full of BS, lot's of, Fox and other right wing rags.
I just saw about how all of a sudden Social Security is taxed federally, it always was, it depends what one's income is. Krasnov isn't eliminating tax on Social Security.
The no tax on tips and overtime is going to be a big bust also.
The gutting of Medicare, Medicaid, SNAP, Social Security, the VA, is all real and most of it will hit in December of 2026, some of the cuts will hit now, like no reimbursements for Obamacare. Schedule your elective surgeries now.
I also see that my deal I have been getting on Eliquis is going away, I see that my prescription drug insurer is cutting way back on coverage.
Fuck Krasnov and his billionaire assholes, Happy Holidays, arrest me for not saying Merry Christmas.

(31,236 posts)A lot of factories, retain chains, restaurant chains, a lot of meat factories are not just laying people off right before Christmas but are shutting down.
I see a lot of these closures happening in red states. Will unwashed Magats understand that this is from Krasnov or are they stupid to believe it's Biden?

The way taxation on it has always worked is that after a pretty low threshold, I think about $32,000, a portion of your SS is taxed maxing at 85 percent. That calculation stays exactly as it was.
However after the AGI is computed, seniors with up to $150,000 joint income, get an additional deduction of $6000. For people below that income level, this will lower their taxes. The amount lowered will depend on the top marginal rate they pay.
Obviously, if you are getting say $35,000 in social security and through RMD withdrawals, pensions etc are paying taxes on 85 percent of that, you will still pay taxes on more than half of your SS even if you qualified for the full deduction
Also, if your SS plus other income is too low to pay income taxes, you are unaffected. It would be helpful to people earning enough to pay taxes on some of their SS and who will owe nothing after that deduction. For others, it will lower the amount.
