Will Bunch: My totally speculative theory on CBS is that when the WH saw the story, someone called an Ellison, who

called Bari Weiss in a panic over the Warner Bros. bid, ordered her to kill it

Only a non-journalist (Ellison) would be too dumb not to understand killing the story just made things 100X worse

Sorry, I'm lost. My crystal ball is at the cleaners and my cat ate my tarot cards. What story?

I figure if my OP requires people to google to understand what my topic might be, I failed.

I mean, if someone takes the time to ask for clarification about a post, I think that means they are interested in it, right?

I scroll through plenty of cryptic posts that don't arouse my curiosity enough to bother asking about them. When I inquire about the content of a post, it means I really want to know!

At the time I asked, I had no idea what everyone had been talking about since yesterday and therefore had no idea what "the story" meant. Your post was on the main page and jumped out at me because of its provocative title. It's kind of diappointing to click on an intriguing title and run into what feels link a blank wall, lol. I didn't have time just then to go dig around in Google, so I asked for clarification. Fortunately, I now see enough clues to help me Google to find out the rest.

what a post might be referring to.

But at the same time it's reasonable to expect our readers to be bit up news from the last day or two, or at least do a quick search if needed. I think the OP gave enough info to help with a search. When I entered

Worse than what? Worse than if there was no blowback? Those people don't care about blowback. It's the most inconsequential of consequences, especially with the current attention span. It's on to the next violation of American trust in 5... 4... 3... 2... 1. I guarantee no one is shaking in their boots over this unless it's the pawn Bari Weiss who simply did what was expected of her.
