Earlier in his career, his golf game was inspiring and his crazy risk taking was thrilling. When he won the Masters in 2010 it was a great tournament.

But then his outrageous gambling came to light, his sordid family life and then his defection to the Saudi’s LIV was the last straw for me to care about him.

Incidentally, most professional golfers grew up in country clubs surrounded by Republicans. Add to that background that the successful players end up quite wealthy— thank you, Tiger— and their backgrounds often steer them towards Conservatism.

I love to golf but I will never join a country club as there is plenty of fine public golf in the States and elsewhere.
