Deja Vu 1972

The Attorney General, the Chief Domestic Adviser, and the Chief of Staff had sworn loyalty to their President. They were willing to lie for him and to obstruct justice. They were willing to cover-up crimes.

We see similar loyalties in this White House. The Attorney General, just like John Mitchell, has sworn loyalty to her President. She is willing to lie and to cover-up. She is willing to commit crimes.

Halderman and Erhlichman were in similar positions as Susan Wiles and Stephen Miller. They are loyal to their boss and willing to give orders to others to do the same.

Nixon had the CIA and FBI also doing his dirty work. So does Donald Trump. The FBI Director has bought in to the crime. He now wants a bullet-proof BMW limousine to cruise around in.

We are watching the cover-up in real time, unlike Watergate, when we discovered most of the details after the facts.

It appears they have decided that it is better to redact, cover-up, and delete information, rather than to make it public. It would just be too damaging for the boss.

It feels like 1972 but the calendar says it is 2025.

Rachel Maddow had filled a wall of the studio with the names of people in the trump administration who had left, been sacked, resigned in disgrace and so on. That hasn't happened (yet) this time around.

I think he, in his selfish way, knew this was a bad look and the rag-tag mob of secretaries, national security folk etc were chosen not for their skills but for their blind and unwavering loyalty to him personally - whether or not they actually know anything at all about the jobs they are doing. They are all as crooked as he is.
