(81,568 posts)Caracas is under fire. Multiple U.S. strikes have hit key military sites: Fuerte Tiuna, La Carlota airbase, and a communications center in El Hatillo, all under Maduros control. Explosions echo through the capital, the power is out in parts of the city, and U.S. helicopters are flying low. Fires also rage near La Guaira.

(9,961 posts)Footage shows explosions around the Venezuelan capital Caracas, and the southern area of the city, near a major military base, is without electricity.
Low-flying aircraft are heard over the city.
The explosions come as US President Donald Trump, who has deployed a navy task force to the Caribbean, has raised the possibility of ground strikes against Venezuela.
The Trump administration has accused Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro of heading a drug cartel and says it is cracking down on trafficking, but the leftist leader denies any involvement in the narcotics trade, saying the US seeks a coup because Venezuela has the largest known reserves of oil on Earth.

(278 posts)He has unilaterally and unconstitutionally declared war against Venezuela. Do not be surprised if the next bombs land in New York.

(9,153 posts)because it clearly shows that Crumb the 1st feels he can do anything to any country he disagrees with or doesn't give him what he wants. He demanded their oil and they said no. So he demands regime change. Naked military attacks to take natural resources is the message other countries will and should take from this.
A great many countries had better quickly rethink their alliances and it would be a wise country that told the US to remove all military bases and personnel immediately. Obviously having our military in their country simply means it makes them a host for US military aggression against themselves or as a base of operations for attacks against countries friendly to them but not compliant with the extortion demands of this crook at a future point on the whim or demand of this lunatic.

(13,916 posts)When your MAGAT family and neighbors attempt to justify starting a war with Venezuela, allegedly because of drug activity in that country, be sure to remind them that tRump pardoned the ex-President of Honduras, Juan Orlando Hernández, who was serving a 45 year sentence for drug trafficking.

(8,875 posts)Maybe his "proud" MAGAT para-military "boys" who spent years dressing up prepping and crawling thru local woods because, Obama/Hillary/Biden/Democrats, will ante-up, put on big boy britches, and go fight TRUMP'S WARS in Venezuela, Iran, etc. etc.
Oh wait. I forgot.
They're too busy chasing crop pickers through fields, snatching children from the arms of women, and parading them through American city streets in zip-ties.
