I don't know if it's dementia, insanity, drug-induced or what, but he is not in his right mind. I make it a point to never look at or listen to him, but this morning while in the shower, I was listening to news radio and his announcement/speech about Venezuela came on. It was horrible. It sounded like he was reading from a prepared speech, but he could barely string two sentences together. He sounded like a five-year-old just learning to read. Actually, I wish he sounded that good. He paused several times during each sentence. I wouldn't say he sounded like a dying man, but he sure didn't sound like a sane, rational intelligent one (not that he ever has). He said they went into Caracas in the dead of night. It was dark. He also managed to slam Jimmy Carter (wtf?). Among other things.
During his two administrations, I have been disappointed, disgusted, saddened, angered, incredulous and in disbelief many times. This is the first time that I'm truly scared. What the hell is he leading us into? And who on God's green earth is going to be able to stop him?

(7,781 posts)any real purpose they might have had except for their complete subservience to the will of their "prince of peace.' But not to worry, they're still getting paid for all of that NOTHING.

Epstein will stop him, if we persist.
They will meet again, soon.

(4,557 posts)He is not right in the head. He probably never has been. Many factors are of influence.
I say his narcissistic personality has fed on itself his whole life to lead to the level of insanity you observe.
All that really matters is that he is dangerous.

(2,026 posts)Venezuelan oil is thick and gooey like Canadian tar sands oil. It is expensive and difficult to refine. To make use of it would require large investments in new refining capacity. Also the Venezuelan oil fields are in poor shape and again would require large investments to get production to a meaningful level. Why would the oil companies want to pour money into an unstable situation which could fall apart at any moment and cost them their entire investment.
The only person that wants Venezuelan oil is Trump. It's part of his "oil domination" thing.

(2,026 posts)But if you are refining Venezuelan oil (possibly procured by favorable sweetheart deals) you are not refining oil from somewhere else. Again, to make any meaningful use of Venezuelan oil will require investment in infrastructure. Best case scenario, it might be possible for that investment comes on line by 2029. A Democratic president could pull the plug on the whole affair and bail on Venezuela. Remember how Biden ended the Keystone Pipeline?

(26,808 posts)Internationally I would bet a lot of countries are pissed. I see on the nightly news Venezuelans in Florida are happy though. Too bad ICE wasnt there to take them into detention !
I seem to recall that Koch owns a refinery that is built for that sort of oil.
I do not recall the source and can't vouch with certainty.
Also, someone once said the oil isn't the goal, but other minerals are.
Either way, it is crime all the way down.

(62,535 posts)They would take a few hundred billion to go to Venezuela to "get rich." Its Iraq and contractors all over again. Except there will be little to no resistence because the Venezuelan government has been blowing oil money for a long long time.
flashman13
(2,026 posts)It's instability vs investment. Iraq is still so unstable you don't see billions being invested to produce and refine Iraqi oil. Big oil doesn't gamble.

(4,468 posts)Congress needs to hit T with charges for waging an unauthorized war. It is now or never!!jack Smith needs to testify in a live televised hearing! We need to keep the attack on T going! We need a discussion about the lack of funding for food, housing and medical care for American while our president is focusing on running another country. The threads of our democracy are whipping in the breeze. Its now or never. This is complete insanity.

(85 posts)Nut job he has ever been, and wag the dog for distraction is nothing new , what is telling is, this trainwreck of a presidential administration hasn't made quite a full year and they're already in full wag the dog mode to cover the fact they are also in full defense mode and traped in a corner of their own making called The Epstein Files, they are going to have a very hard time wagging (distracting) the voters for the next 11 months, that doesn't mean they won't try, I'm beginning to get the sense, that they are realizing there isn't any straws for them to grasp anymore, unless they invent them

We are sure its just a coincidence, but today is the statuatory date for the DOJ to explain its redactions in the Epstein file productions.
We have not forgotten, and we wont let up - regardless of the Presidents new unconstitutional actions.

(10,715 posts)His flat manner and flat speech made me think others like Steven Miller might be the leaders. Trump seemed so apathetic - like he kidnapped a ruler but he looked bored. Something very off about it all. Then he physically looks the worst ever - cant keep his eyes open while standing plus some slurring-while his face is thinning and sagging.
