Venezuelan soldiers and civilians were killed in US airstrikes that targeted several locations in the country, Venezuelan Vice President Delcy Rodríguez said on Saturday.

US President Donald Trump earlier confirmed that the US had carried out the airstrikes on Venezuelan territory, and said that President Nicolás Maduro had been "captured."

According to media reports, the US airstrikes were mainly directed against military bases, airfields, communication facilities and ports.
