I DO "understand" politics. I know that, as part of old-school (PRE-TRUMP) politics, he needs to say this.
REPUBLICANS ARE NOT GOING TO STEP UP TO THE MOTHERFUCKING PLATE. They will continue to step up to Trump's ASS and smother it in warm, moist, loving smoochies.
As far as the "heat from constituents" is concerned, we'll see. The MAGAts are still in full lock-step, so the burden of SHOWING UP is on Dems and Independents (and whatever Registered Republicans are feeling the pinch and aren't in denial over its source).

(4,884 posts)...he was reading off note cards in front of him. Chuck has done good work over the years but wish he would rise to the occasion here with much more fire. And it is right for him to call out the Repugs but we all know those are wasted words.

(21,791 posts)...I really do believe he's playing by the old rules. Why he's adhering to them is beyond me. But in the old way of doing things, even when it seemed futile, you gave your opponent the option to do the right thing. And the old way of doing things died shortly after Trump came down the escalator in 2015 with his nude model wife.

(65,777 posts)They voted for these fucking idiots in the first place. Fox will tell them everything is fine, and the brainless chuds will believe it.
We're not dealing with the best nor brightest, Chuck, and you know that.
