Corporation For Public Broadcasting Is Dissolved After 58 Years Of Service

https://www.huffpost.com/entry/latest-news-trump-maduro_n_695bb603e4b0d6beb5fd9469/liveblog_695c153ce4b0d6beb5fe025f

The Corporation for Public Broadcasting was dissolved Monday by its board of directors, ending its 58 years as the primary funder for PBS, NPR and local TV and radio stations.

The board of CPB, which was created by Congress to oversee the federal government’s investments in public broadcasting, didn’t have much choice. Trump and Republicans in Congress last year stripped the organization of its $1.1 billion in federal funding, which represented the full amount it was set to receive over two years.

Trump’s White House claimed NPR and PBS shouldn’t get federal money because they produce “woke propaganda.” But both are reputable news sources, and the reality is Trump simply wants to shut them down because they don’t report on him in flattering ways. Public radio stations are also a lifeline to rural communities, where plenty of Trump’s supporters are now being hurt by the loss in services.

The effort to defund CPB was led by Office of Management and Budget director Russ Vought, who has been downright gleeful about haphazardly slashing billions from federal programs.

It is evil. It is anti-Enlightenment, anti-arts, anti-educational, anti-cultural refinement, anti-compassion, anti-intellectual, anti-tolerant, anti-everything that is about humans attaining a better understanding of themselves and others.

It is being done to promote ignorance and manipulation. How is that not evil?

Repugs are all rich, smart, live indoors, and never get ill. Incidentally, tons of drumpsters in my rural area watch PBS -- especially the mystery series, Downton Abbey, and All Creatures Great and Small.

Ignorant people have ruined this country.

I can’t tell you what a joy it was to hear NPR when I was in rural areas of West Virginia, Maryland,
Ohio, Kentucky, Tennessee, Alabama, Georgia, or Pennsylvania. Solid News and often good music
too. Classical, blue grass, jazz, and R and B.

Trump is a cancer on America that I don’t know if we will survive and his burning America to the
ground by getting rid of Education, the Arts, Sciences, and human decency all helps Vlad Putin and
the 35% of mouth breathing dumb asses Americans who are racist, sexist, anti intellectual, Christo
Fascist, and generationally and culturally ignorant.

How I feel.

He is not a tumor all to himself. He was seeded by the malignant citizens who have always dwelled among us.

I was born in 1964 in Alabama and have been here all my life. I was all too aware of it because I heard what white Christians said when they assumed there were only sympathetic ears around them. It hasn't changed as much as many would wish.

Commercial network stations don't want to bother with those reports on a 24-hour basis. They just give snippets every so often because their syndicated programming must maintain their commercial advertising. Rural areas rely more on TV-radio because cellphone signals are sketchy, especially when storms blow the towers down.
