The folksy Walz/Kaine approach might have worked 50yrs ago, but not now. It's time for Gavin.

Newson/Kelly 2028.

Gavin kicks them in the teeth; Kelly helps to prosecute and imprison them all.

I think Walz really hit the "pro-America" card with his football coaching and car repairing. He was the most pugilistic politico in the 2024 election (besides Trump).

I do not have a favorite for 2028, and it is a long long long time away.

Is some kind of strength, or just being a bad ass. Nice law abiding men and women will be fine in blue states but in red and purple ones not so much.

Use to be if you were proven a bad person you dropped out, now they just get louder and more obnoxious.

in the post war era, the modern undercurrent kept growing more and more mainstream, from McCarthy to Goldwater to Nixon... and on and on... darker and more open...

Folksy talk can only work if the Dem plays hardball with it.

Frankly I want a modern LBJ. We need it right now.

I know; I know. Neither Tim was the top of the ticket.

So Old Broad that I am notwithstanding, we need not try for insanity with a 3rd woman nominee.

Read the room. Or electorate.

The voters that have an automatic aversion to someone from California almost assuredly won't be voting for any Democrat to begin with.

And Illinois .... Doesn't have anywhere NEAR the reputation - or drag ....

Going to insist (having nothing personal against the man at all, but .. ) - Newsom represents a big uphill push - that I don't think other candidates necessarily carry.

not right-wingers ? Democratic voters are not routinely demonizing big cities or urban populations.

I think we are speaking of completely different demographics here. And, having said that, I really don't think Billy Bob soybean farmer - has a great deal of potential as a potential democratic vote. (certainly never has been in the past)

manufactured hills of course as they all are, but if a party can pretyend righteous indignation over a tan suit at a press conference, I'd expect each and every Democratic cnadidate running to be tarred and feathered with whatever is most convenient at that point.

. . . I don't think the reason Harris/Walz lost was because they were too "folksy." I think the primary reason came down to a combination of racism/sexism. And in any case, I don't think the choice of running mate has ever been the deciding factor in a presidential election.

Something we should have had in 2024, but I digress. I'd just like the Democratic National Party stay the hell out of it and let the people decide.

This also assumes we'll have fair elections. I am not 100% convinced of this yet.
