Intro:

Peter Thiel, the white nationalist billionaire and groomer of JD Vance, has long imagined the creation of “network states” run by tech oligarchs like himself, where “free cities” will be unbothered by anti-capitalist notions of democracy, rules-based order, and human rights.

These techno-utopias need land for them to seed and birth their fascist, decentralized nations where cryptocurrency reigns supreme, AI has replaced labor, and a surveillance state can ensure a docile, compliant population that will be grateful to be ruled by the new Gods who adhere to eugenics and white supremacy.

If all of this seems like bad, dystopian science fiction written by a horny, dorky high schooler, then clearly you haven’t been paying attention to the tech bros who have openly outlined their vision for the future. They’ve even attempted it with their “free city” Praxis, which has launched with less than successful results. They want to try to make it a reality in Greenland, and also loot the land of its resources and minerals in the process. This is something they’ve been dreaming about since 2019, even before Trump illegally invaded Venezuela, which they also want to loot, and announced he “needs” Greenland, which is not his to take.

I was looking at the wiki pages for Greenland's population and economy. Seems Bezos, Gates and Lutnick already have their foot in the door. Under the Sectors is one for Mining, that is an interesting section.

...and rare earths – are known to exist, but as of 2011 not yet in commercially viable deposits, while Greenland's Bureau of Minerals and Petroleum was working to promote Greenland as an attractive destination for prospectors.

Greenland's economy is hampered by lack of infrastructure with less than 100 miles of paved roads. However as of 2012, partly due to the retreating ice sheet due to climate change, Greenland was starting to emerge as a territory rich with untapped mining resources.

As of 2025, Lumina was digging for anorthosite, and KoBold, financed by Jeff Bezos, Bill Gates and other billionaires for nickel.[30] Critical Metals Corporation has been operating a mine in southern Greenland, backed by Cantor Fitzgerald of which Howard Lutnick has been the firm’s chief executive prior to becoming commerce secretary in 2025.[30]

Also reading about their population.... came across this tidbit of shocking information called the Spiral case:

Between around 1966 and 1975, thousands of Greenlandic Inuit girls and women had intrauterine devices (IUDs) inserted to prevent pregnancy under the direction of the Danish government and by Danish doctors.[6] Half of the 9,000 women in Greenland who could have children were given IUDs in the first five years of the program;[7] some of the affected girls were as young as 12,[8] and in many cases, women (and in the case of girls, their parents) did not consent to the procedure.[9] For instance, Naja Lyberth was 13 or 14 years old, Elisibánguak' Jeremiasssen was 13,[10] and Arnannguaq Poulsen was 16 and staying in Denmark when she received hers.[11] All of the girls in Lyberth's class were told to have IUDs placed by a visiting doctor[12] and then taken to a hospital for them to be inserted.[13] The purpose of the campaign was to prevent unplanned or unwanted pregnancies, lower childcare costs, and control the birth rate in Greenland.[14] Thousands of girls and women ultimately had IUDs placed without their consent during the campaign.[13] As a result, the birth rate in Greenland was halved in just a few years.[8]

That's very sad about the Spiral case. I have found info

about a high teen pregnancy rate there, and Greenland has at times had one of the highest abortion rates among teenage girls in the world - more than 1 in 5 girls between the ages of 12 and 19 had an abortion in 2012, which is an extremely high rate of unwanted pregnancies. But no one should ever be forced to get an IUD or any other type of birth control.

That says women in Greenland had been having an average of 7 children in the early 1960s, and forcing so many to have IUDs brought that birth rate down to 2.3 children.

The stories of young girls who were injured when they were given IUDs intended for grown women who'd had at least one child are so upsetting.
