Today the Mint is issuing new coins that celebrate the Pilgrims of Plymouth Rock, rather than the original......

.......plan for coins that featured Frederick Douglas (Abolition of slavery), The 19th Amendment (Women's Suffrage) and Ruby Bridges (school integration). The "Pilgrim" coin is specifically intended to celebrate the Mayflower Compact as a first step toward self governance by the people. While partially true, the Pilgrims did also pledge continued loyalty to King James which we tend to forget. Another thing that our historical accounts seem to miss is that these pilgrims did not come to America for religious freedom, but rather came here because their religious intolerance of others had worn out their welcome in England (and Holland) and they were fleeing "oppression" because they were a pain in the ass and folks wanted them gone.

Africans came over on cruise ships while drinking Margaritas and dancing in the aisles.

Erasing history. WHY? I don't get it. I am a white dude and love this nation, but also know we did some messed up shit. We got over it, great people fought to free black Americans and give women actual freedom to...well do anything. Lets not forget the genocide against the Native population. Messed up. I hate it. But I can't change it. I have no white guilt. I am only guilty for shit I personally do. But I won't pretend either.

I don't understand the psychosis in getting rid of all this. To make "us whites" feel better? To promote the idea "white America" is perfect? Why is TRUTH so controversial?

White men saw the 19th Amendment as taking power from them.

White supremacy is really about white men. They've always seen America as their land, and only their land. No land for black, brown, red, or yellow people, and even white women are expected to take a lesser role in the world of white men.
