I find the whole idea of the US taking control of Greenland from Denmark completely nuts...

It is a sovereign nation for Gods sake. Also, the Venezuela so called "takeover". Kidnapping a country's leader because we don't "like" him or his policies when they have not attacked the US is wrong and opens the door for other countries to do the same...geez...

2. If we try this

we are asking for the EU to turn on us. Maybe even start a war with us. We will be alone in the world. I don't think even Putin and Xi will go along with it.

Nobody stopped him yet. I don’t see anything changing in the short time.

4. Half of me thinks it's talk and bluster, a distraction

The other half of me thinks he really is that foolish and would see it done by hook or by crook, and damned the consequences because he's got his. I do understand that every media minute given to reporting on this is one media minute less of reporting about the Trumpstein tapes, but I also understand his mind just really isn't there and he may be actually trying to legislate his dementia into policy.

6. Why can't the companies that have an interest in the minerals work with Denmark/Greenland...

and pay for the rights to the minerals. We have a mining company from South America looking to mine nickel/copper in Minnesota. Chinese companies own iron mines in America. Krasnov just wants a cut of the profits, so he bullies his way in.

11. There are a lot of stupid people in the United States

They cared more about oppression or being adjacent to the oppressors- than they did the Constitution.

I would say take a page from the book of Move, Fred Hampton, the Deacons, Angela Davis . . .

The playbook is there. Shit - folks could even look to the Revolution or the CSA. There are paths to take - but the people who can "get away with it" refuse to lose a few lives for the cause.

13. The USA has followed a path of militaristic self-destruction ever since WWII
Tue Jan 6, 2026, 04:15 PM

The trumped up Gulf of Tonkin bullshit to escalate the Vietnam War and the disaster that followed. Evil interference of Latin American governments. Trumped-up lies by the Cheney-Bush cabal to invade Iraq. Now likely the final act in the self-destruction of a country that had so much potential to be a good and happy place. We had it made, with economic prosperity and a flawed but functional constitutional republic ..... and the evil republican party destroyed it all.
