FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
January 6, 2026
ROANOKE, VA Beth Macy will report a whopping $615,000 raised in the first quarter of her campaign, an unprecedented level of investment for a Democrat in the Sixth District in recent history. Her impressive haul since announcing her campaign November 18 far surpasses the 2024 Democratic nominees total amount raised, and nears incumbent Ben Clines total amount raised for 2024. Macy will also report more cash-on-hand in just six weeks than Cline after seven years in Congress.
Across Virginias Sixth District and the country, people are telling us they want change. They want leaders who wont bow down in the face of obstacles, and who arent just talking heads for a political party that has failed to deliver on its promises, said Macy. While billionaires are consolidating wealth, the middle class is disappearing, and politicians arent doing a single thing about it. Our campaign represents an opportunity to make that change and elect a leader for the middle class, not the billionaire class. I am so grateful for this tremendous support to make that happen.
Macy, who does not take corporate PAC money, has raised these funds through more than 4,800 donations, 79% of which were under $100.
Beth Macy is continuing her Listening Tour in Page County on Wednesday, January 7 at 7:30pm. She has held sessions in Roanoke, Fincastle, Waynesboro, and Clifton Forge. A full list of her upcoming events can be found here.
A former Roanoke Times reporter and author of Dopesick and other books, Beth Macy is known for lifting up the voices of working people. Her reporting has chronicled the effects of job loss, addiction, corporate greed, and political indifference on rural communities. She is running for Congress to bring those storiesand the people behind themto the halls of Congress.
