Portland is a one-way street, southbound; the other lane we're seeing on TV is a bike lane. So it's not likely that the car came from the opposite direction to block or ram the ICE vehicle.

ICE is claiming they were rammed, I was speculating it could be an innocent driver hitting a slippery spot & was not intentional.

Tina Smith's office just confirmed the victim is a US citizen. Not that that should matter but earlier DHS implied she was fleeing arrest. (Though they seemed to have dropped that claim a while ago.)

State governors and Attorney Generals need to announce that ICE and DHS will not be given the benefit of the doubt and any agents involved in a shooting will be automatically detained under State law pending an investigation. While agents have the legal authority to perform their duties, they do not have authority to violate State criminal statutes in the performance of their duties.

I saw the video that someone posted on BlueSky, which appears to have now been taken down. That video does not align with this explanation - not that THAT surprises anyone.

The agent was not in danger. This was murder.

It’s the new thing among cops. Step in front of a moving vehicle and then shoot the driver. I’ve seen dozens of these videos and the cop always gets away with it.

Teenagers, mothers with kids in the car, disoriented seniors. It doesn’t matter. Cops get their kill. The ice agent will probably get a tattoo.

The only car she ran into was a little red Honda after she was shot. A later report showed the front of her vehicle and I didn't note any bullet holes in the windshield (not saying there wasn't one, just that I didn't observe it). If an ICE officer "feared for his life" one would surmise that the victim would have been going straight at him. First impressions don't lead to that explanation.

Democrats cannot put their names to the actions of this government. They have blood on their hands and I don't want to shake their hands during negotiations.

The man who shot her showed complete disregard for her life and safety.
She was nowhere near an ICE vehicle -- there was a white vehicle beside her car, not in front.
Three ICE agents aggressively approach her car with clear intent that they were going to drag her out of her car.
Kristi Neom just shamelessly lied her ass off to blame the victim and exonerate the agent.

Two ICE agents approached the driver's side. One tried to open the driver's door while the other was standing alongside the left front fender. The driver reversed briefly, then shifted to drive and moved forward with the wheels turned to the right, away from the agent standing near the left fender. That agent pulled his gun and fired a single shot through the windshield.

That was by no means a ramming attempt. ICE wildly overreacted.

I saw a still image of the windshield and there was only one bullet hole visible, unless I missed it.

Either way, Mayor Frey is correct. No ICE agent was in danger of being struck by the vehicle. It's also worth noting that quite a few police departments have changed their use-of-force rules regarding officers firing at a moving vehicle in self-defense, with some forbidding it altogether.

Clearly ICE has different use-of-force rules or no rules at all.
