Trump slams 'stupidity' of 5 GOP senators who defied him on Venezuela: 'Should never be elected again'
Five Republican senators incurred the wrath of President Donald Trump on Thursday after they joined Democrats in advancing a resolution limiting Trump’s ability to conduct further attacks on Venezuela.
Sens. Susan Collins of Maine, Lisa Murkowski of Alaska, Rand Paul of Kentucky, Josh Hawley of Missouri and Todd Young of Indiana joined Senate Democrats to advance the resolution in a 52-47 vote.
Trump took to his Truth Social account Thursday to slam the five senators, saying the GOP lawmakers “should never be elected to office again.”

The resolution has virtually no chance of becoming law because Trump would have to sign it if it were to pass the House, but it’s still a significant gesture that shows unease among some Republicans after the U.S. military seized Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro in a surprise nighttime raid.
