(100 posts)I think there's a very high chance we'll have midterms and I believe we must fight very hard and talk to as many people as possible an do everything we can to have real deep conversations with people in hopes of eroding Trump's support. I believe the less popular Trump is in November the higher the chances of having fair midterms. No matter what though we're likely going to see additional hostilities and difficulties with voting. It's not going to be the conspiracy theory stuff about the machines and all that but it's going to be things like voter roll purges, gerrymandering in red states, sporadic threats and attacks and maybe intimidation from federal agents.
However and this is the really important part: we must ensure that everyone votes even those who believe the election will be unfair because large turnout is how you counteract unfair elections. We really need to drill in people's heads that voting is super important and everyone must do it even if it will be difficult for them (actually I think most people are going to still find voting to be easy). People should make a plan to vote and consider voting early in person if they have a chance. If the elections do turn out to be unfair it will make a lot of people upset because they knew they voted Democrat but it got changed to Republican. We'll hopefully demand better and demand fair elections if this happens.
In the past people have died for the right to vote. I don't think anyone in 2026 will need to do that. But we should remind people of our past and we must all vote to preserve our right to vote.
One thing I suggest if you're in a state that allows it please take a picture of your ballot so you have record of how you voted. In addition if you could get some kind of confirmation or receipt about how you voted that would be great too.

(11,585 posts)Receipts wouldnt change anything
Pictures of ballots are illegal so you cant sell your vote
Its so odd that people who can plainly see *rump and company doing every illegal thing, immoral thing in the book but rigging machines that have proprietary software to win an election is just a step too far
One thing I believe you are correct about is the more votes that have to change the more chance it will show, trouble is even when there are shows its illegal to actually have human beings count the votes

(25,506 posts)Shit is going to roll downhill fast.
The Trump administration is built upon Mount Bullshit and when the dam breaks, the flood is coming.
We're spending trillions more than we have, and about to jack interest rates really low. The economy isn't creating jobs and salaries are not moving. Young people graduating this spring face a bleak jobs market for them. As we see more and more young people out of work . . . protests going to start raging. Really, if unemployment spikes, it could be a long hot summer in the US

(1,393 posts)There will be attempts to make voting harder, there's gerrymandering, but there's still no realistic chances of votes being flipped or counts changed.

(28,542 posts)With Trump's cult doing everything they possibly can to monkeywrench it.
They will at best succeed in tying a lot of results up in court, but eventually the voice of the people will be heard.
