I went to a candlelight vigil / rally for Renee Good last night.

There were about 100 or so people there, late afternoon / early evening.
Scottsdale Arizona, traditionally a very conservative area of the Phoenix metro-area.

Really encouraging, since it was thrown together really quickly.

Also encouraging was the very large numbers of cars honking in support.
We held it during rush hour and so a high volume of cars went by and the vast majority were positive.
Of course there were some jerks, but overall a very positive experience.
It really helped my mental health. I've been incredibly depressed lately.

I feel better just reading about those on here who have been to Candle Light Vigils in their towns.

and heartfelt sympathy for someone who could be any one of us will echo through the universe and its big sympathetic nerve, and somehow put an end to the assault on dignity.

My Buddhist group seeks a change of heart, one person at a time, from the three poisons of greed, hate and delusion. While that might not come for a long time, especially in these darkest of times, historically speaking, it just has to reach a tipping point, where enough recognize that this week’s victim could easily be their own wife or daughter next week, the killing is so indiscriminate, if premeditated.

That sincere prayer is echoed by many, not gaudy, but hopefully heard by sympathetic souls.

Across boundaries of space and time.

I think it heartens those who can’t join us, but can beep and wave, and it encourages me to know how much support there is. And my fellow protesters are wonderful people. It’s a solid community of smart, passionate people.
