And here I'm bitching about it being 48 on the Monterey Bay. My heart goes out to my fellow DU readers who live in the cold part of the country. Stay safe, keep warm. For those that live in the area where ICE is doing their evil towards my fellow humans, don't serve them in restaurants, stores or hotel. Turn your car alarm on when you see these evil people.

I've lived here for 50+ years and have never seen anything remotely like this. Last week we had a string of 50 degree sunny days. Two days ago we had a dusting of snow. That is the first precipitation in weeks and even then it was rain rather than snow. Local mountains that should be solid white are bare. Ski resorts are for the most part hurting. You can't make snow when it doesn't get below freezing even at night. Unless there is some sort of major change in precipitation, this year will see a disastrous drought. After taking economic hits farmers and ranchers are going to take a weather hit. It's -1 this morning. That is only the second time this winter that it has been that cold and that only lasted two days. The forecast is we will be back in the 40s by Monday.

In summary - Trump is an idiot.

This is some exceedingly dangerous territory, but I doubt F47 has the power consolidation needed to successfully navigate the terrain. I've underestimated F47 before though, maybe support from 1/3 of the population + the entire federal government is enough to begin the thought-crime extermination process. They'll want to move quickly when they're ready, but if they move too soon they lose even more support.
