One of my BILs told me that his neighbor

told him on Sunday that his wife demanded that they cancel FOX News or she was leaving. Their coverage of Minnesota was her last straw.
The dam is breaking.

The television in our house plays DVDs and a couple of no-advertising streaming services. That's all it does.

However, now the signals are digital, that may not be as much of an issue as it used to be.

It might be worth trying. Just run a cable outside and hook it to a tin roof or something. Or, maybe a trash can lid. Just to try it.

Digital service works differently, so the signals might be more receivable these days. They may not, which is why I suggest using this experiment first.

They sell it as a bundle with all the other Fox channels. Sports, entertainment, etc. And even so, the cable company determines the lineup. You can't do it. I've tried.

Tue Feb 3, 2026, 09:21 PM

... but you're still paying for it. They won't take it off your monthly cable fee. Faux Noise gets your money anyway, whether you watch or not. I had Verizon Fios for over 20 years, and I calculated that my $160 monthly fee meant I was paying Faux something like $3 per month.

What really hurts Faux Noise is the fact that so many Americans have just canceled their cable subscriptions altogether. Way fewer subscribers now than 15 or 20 years ago.

That's the impact Faux Noise has had on American television. We can't cancel them specifically, so we're cancelling the entire system. The winners are the providers like YoutubeTV, Prime, Peacock, Hulu, AppleTV, and a bunch of others.

Smart TVs have 'parental controls' that can disable selected channels

https://techpenny.com/block-content-smart-tvs/]

For several years now, I have read about people visiting elderly parents who seem overly agitated and angry about 'the news' so they disabled FOX news from the TVs. Suddenly, everybody calmed down and got civil again.

for, you wil get it. The only way to get rid of it is to cancel that bundle which means removing all the other channels in that bundle as well which probably includes some channels most people would want.

However, I'm pretty sure most cable providers allow you to block individual channels so they can't be viewed by anyone unnless you enter a code to unblock. I know DISH Network had such a feature because I used it. Blocking Fox news meant I never had to see it. I could never even turn it on accidentally.

... there will usually be a 'parental control' which lets you block channels, so they can only be viewed by entering a password. Keeps kids away from the "adult" entertainment. If you have no "adult" channels, you've probably never considered using it before.

If you have something like DISH, you may be able to implement it through DISH's hardware **OR** your own TV.

We saw that every thing we wanted to see was online sooner or later. Why pay for two services that are giving you the same stuff?

We have not had cable since the Battlestar Galactica remake. We have not missed one thing from not having it.

Not. One. Thing.

Don't let them convince you otherwise. You don't need cable for anything anymore, and they cable people know it. That is why all the cable companies got into being 'service providers', because they saw what was coming.

So did we.

(Yes, we have an antenna. I use it to watch football and the occasional news spot.)

I truly would but that just isn't the case.

They are already starting to shape the narrative to control the elections. There will NOT be a free and fair election in November.
All they need to do is post their gestapo ice goons outside key voting locations in Democratic polling areas in purple districts around the country and randomly harass, question or arrest people to dissuade others from voting and as long as they can pick off enough Democratic voters, they will retain control of the House.

Sure, people will protest and complain and file lawsuits but by the time a judge even looks at it the election will be long over and no way to change its outcome.
I have a feeling the next two years will make the first two years seem like a vacation.
