Great actor and incredibly memorable roles. RIP, Bob

For some reason, it was a triple stumper.

I don't really know how to process that someone's first movie character stumped all the Jeopardy contestants and then he died a few days later, but there has to be some kharmic twist to that.

The category name was a huge help. I was quite surprised no one got it, since it's the Tournament of Champions. The two men were ahead with similar scores and they both bet it all, and the woman who was trailing in third didn't bet anything.

My mom (who died in 2022) and I both loved Jeopardy.
It didn’t air here at all time that i could watch it, so she would call me and sometimes didn’t even say “hi” before launching into the Final Jeopardy category. I loved that.

I would’ve bet it all on this one. She would have been very happy with this category— To Kill a Mockingbird was her favorite book.

Such a great character.

was his role in the Twilight Zone episode, "Miniature." His character was one everybody could identify with, a person who never could fit in with everybody else but found comfort in escaping to a library dollhouse. Great episode. Duvall should have won an Emmy for it.

I remember several things he spoke about. Remarkable man and actor.

On edit: he was in that Twilight Zone about the dollhouse which came to life. Also the cab driver in Bullitt, and as recently as the Jack Reacher film with Tom Cruise. Memorable.

Wasn't he and Dustin Hoffman roomies when they were starving actors.

As far as I'm concerned he outacted the whole cast, including Tommy Lee Jones.

When I first saw that movie, it was named "The Ace".
They tested 3 different titles & The Ace stuck.
It was after the movie became big on cable premium channels & created a buzz, it was renamed prior to a second theatrical release.
So, I knew "The Ace" and it took a bit to realize Santini was the same movie!

When I asked my husband which Duvall roles I want to see soon, he guessed To Kill a Mockingbird, but it is a tiny role for him

I want to watch Lonesome Dove and Secondhand Lions (and yes we own the DVDs, along with Crazy Heart, Open Range and Broken Trail).

I do not need to see Godfather or Apocalypse or Santini again. Nothing to do with the quality of the acting.

Perhaps his most underrated one was as the Soviet dictator in the TV biopic "Stalin"!

Lonesome Dove TV 6 part series. Tommy Lee Jones was his friend and business partner, Woodrow Call. Both were Texas Rangers together when the saying was "One riot, one Ranger."

One of my favorite people. Robert will live on in his films.
