3 dead, dozen injured some with concussive injuries. That means TBI - Traumatic Brain Injury.
Anyone here see the tv commercials by Wounded Warrior Project? See those guys who dont have a scratch but they cant speak, cannot control their limbs, must be fed and dressed? Thats TBI. The concussion from being close to the explosion of 500 lbs of explosive or more causes irreversible damage to the brain.
Will Trump invite them to the White House for Big Macs?
During his first term he was at a service at Arlington where a multiple amputee sang The Lords Prayer. Trump told his staff he never again wanted to be seen wit someone like that because they dont look good.

(178,853 posts)It happened at home when he fell off an improperly used ladder. The neurologist who took care of him at the hospital where he died said he'd never seen a brain bleed as bad. Had he lived, he would have been a vegetable.
A TBI from a bomb blast probably would be far worse.

(97,051 posts)My nephew fell from the second story hit the lower roof and then then the fell to the driveway, The police did not think he would make it. He was airlifted to Boston.
We were lucky he made it, took a lot of time, but he survived. When he goes through airport security, he sets off the metal detectors with the metal plates in his head.

(22,018 posts)Dad talked about that when he was in Normandy in 1944. The first time he and his compadres faced concussive injuries, though they didn't know the cause at the time. The break out, Operation Cobra, was to begin with the carpet bombing of German positions in and around St. Lo. Many bombs feel short and hammered the 30th infantry division's 120th regiment, killing and injuring 600+ soldiers including General Leslie McNair. Dad said the best you could do was dive into ditch or foxhole and hope and pray. He said some guys came out of it without a scratch but were never the same afterward. Lots of cases of that mainly from shelling on their way to Germany and the boat ride home. Shell shock that doesn't go away. Perhaps ever. Now we know.

Sadly the Iraq war had us learning more about TBI.
And here we are again.
The news shows today? Its like they are rehashing the Iraq war talking points. The Iranian people need to stand up!!! Thats what this administration says? After starting this quagmire.
Tough times friends.

(1,991 posts)I was sitting at a red light and was rear ended. I have mentally been found, by the government, to not be able to work. Before my husband died, there were times when I could not recall his name. I struggle with my dogs names. My taste has changed. I do not enjoy foods I used to. I had to quite teaching Chinese kids English because I could not do math problems at a k-2 level. I grieve the person I was before the accident. I have found others on the subreddit who also grieve who they were. Overnight, you have a whole new personality. I have five different types of headaches. I have double vision and do much more. It is horrible.

(1,991 posts)It would be so much easier if I had done something to cause it. A drastic change being my fault would at least, well I am not sure. Sometimes it is hard to find words with a TBI. That is what my concussion specialist says. Anyway, I was stopped at a red light. I did nothing but sit there! It is hard because everything was out of my hands. I cannot imagine what soldiers go through.

(22,471 posts)He thinks they're "suckers" and "losers," remember?
I wish to hell he would say something about the American casualties incurred in the Iran invasion that would open some MAGA eyes to the fact that he really, truly does not care one tiny bit about dead or wounded soldiers OR anyone else who isn't named Donald John Trump.(Don't worry, I'm not holding my breath.)
Most of us would be more upset about a dog getting hit by a car than he is about the deaths of American troops.

Some slight stirrings for Ivanka, perhaps, but he only sees her as some idealized female version of himself.

(2,877 posts)but then I think of the "Trump mocks reporter with disability" incident from 2015. 2015.
Anyone who voted for him in any of the three elections seemed to think that was an acceptable action by a presidential candidate. Damn them all to Hell.
