So the pain starts now... the gain arrives... when exactly?

I’ve heard the “short-term pain, long-term gain” line several times since the weekend about tariffs, the markets, oil, Iran—take your pick.

It’s the classic pitch: the pain starts now, the gain arrives… someday. Maybe.

Convenient how the suffering is guaranteed but the payoff is always hypothetical.

I would say the pain started around 2016, with temporary gains in 2020, more pain in 2025, followed by gains last week with the overturned tariffs and today with Noem’s firing, with the jackpot on deck for November (nothing will stop the Blue Tsunami).

I know you were referring to the “payoff” promised by the republicans for our patience through the current suffering, I just reframed for what we can actually expect.
