Iran defends strikes on Gulf neighbors but they say trust is brokenhttps://www.cnbc.com/2026/03/10/iran-strikes-gulf-neighbors-us-assets-oil-infrastructure.html
A senior UAE official, who is not customarily identified by name, told journalists on Friday at an official briefing, I am not saying, relations between Gulf states and Iran are not going to go back, because at the end of the day, you are neighbours but it creates a huge trust gap that, in my opinion, will last for decades to come.
CNBC has asked Saudi Arabia, Qatar and Bahrain to comment on what impact Iranian attacks are having on their relationships with Tehran and is awaiting responses.
Qatar pointed CNBC to the latest statement from the countrys prime minister and foreign minister on Tuesday in which they said they, strongly condemned Iranian attacks on the State of Qatar and other Gulf countries, adding that the justifications provided by Tehran are totally rejected.

(26,076 posts)It showed their alliance with the US would not protect them if war came. Trump has not been a good ally. He went to war without consulting them, and has failed to protect them. The region won't return to what it was as these states will likely look to China, Europe, or Russia for future assurances the US failed to deliver.

(35,058 posts)We're done there. Decades of investments down the drain.
On top of that, we moved the THAAD missile-defense system from South Korea to the Middle East, further alienating allies. North Korea immediately did a missile test after that move.
The US looks very stupid now.
What Iran did was fucked up; however, it was not poorly played. It looks like they'll be controlling the Middle East going forward.
