However, these people are not 'Christians'. They are opportunists who discovered that some people are completely delusional when it comes to religion.

They know that they can make money off of them. They know they can convince them to do just about anything.

Being predatory is not what I remember reading about in the Bible. (Other than the whole 'spreading the word' thing. That behavior got rather predatory at times, in my opinion.)

So maybe he is looking for more than a shiny thing with which to mesmerize magas with flagging enthusiasm. Maybe he's looking for a new money making gig for any post-retirement years he has left. He's not so dumb that he doesn't understand how the false prophets make lots of profits.

I don't want to give Vance TOO MUCH CREDIT, but I'll go out on a limb and say...whether he'd ever be willing to admit it in public or not...he knows this is "wrong."

I Iive in a MAGA wonderland in deep rural East Tennessee. The people in my exercise class were talking about the shooting before the election. This one woman said that Trump got injured for us just like Jesus Christ was killed for us...

I say that because so many of the MAGA around here are now talking trash about pedo Trump. More and more of them think he's crazy. His base is dwindling. They say the would vote for a Democrat IF the Dems would put up a real liberal candidate. They really hate corporate Dems much more than they hate corporate Republicans.

My interactions with neighbors here are mostly thru veterans events. I've just noticed that trump is barely mentioned anymore -- like the brother-in-law that makes meth in his mom's garage.

I get that many will find Trump’s offensive against the pope as predictable — this is just what he does — but compare how he lashed out at Pope Francis in 2016 to how he targeted Pope Leo XIV yesterday.
