when I was new to the internet. Someone typed back "lol". I didn't know it meant laugh out loud. I thought they were calling me an absolute zero because the symbol for absolute zero in science was "l0l". I thought that is pretty rude.

When I first saw LOL here at DU, I figured it stood for Lots of Luck.
It took me years to get over that. 
but not entirely. lol
