Facebook/Meta is evil, I've been trying to delete any link to FB and delete my history...Impossible so far...

For me anyway...I've decided that FB is basically a stalking and information stealing app...I'll keep trying...at this point I literally hate FB...It should be banned or at least more rigorously regulated...

There's nothing private or embarrassing in there so I guess I'll just leave it...and FB doesn't work on my Chromebook which is my main PC for Internet browsing (that's a good thing)...

I hope you get it all straightened out. If you do, please let us know.

It's problems like this one that make me glad I never signed up for Facebook, although so many people tried to talk me into it.

You were smart to not sign up for it...It is a predatory app (imo) and I would never use it again...

Here’s how you can delete different types of Facebook history (it depends on what exactly you mean by “history”):

🔎 1. Clear Activity Log (posts, likes, searches, etc.)
6

This is the main place where Facebook stores your activity.

Steps:

Open Facebook app or website
Tap your profile picture
Go to Settings & Privacy → Activity Log
Browse categories (posts, likes, comments, searches)
Tap Manage Activity to:
Delete individual items
Bulk delete old posts

🔍 2. Delete Facebook Search History
6

Steps:

Tap the search bar
Tap Edit (or “See all”)
Tap Clear Searches

💬 3. Delete Messenger Chat History
6

Steps:

Open Messenger
Press and hold the conversation
Tap Delete

⚠️ Note: This removes it only from your account, not the other person’s.

🌐 4. Clear Off-Facebook Activity (tracking from other apps/websites)
5

Steps:

Go to Settings & Privacy → Settings
Tap Off-Facebook Activity
Select Clear History

🧹 5. Delete Browsing Data (if you used Facebook in a browser)

This is done in your browser (Chrome, Safari, etc.), not inside Facebook:

Open browser settings
Clear history, cookies, and cache
👍 Quick Tip

If you want to clean everything at once, use:

Activity Log → Manage Activity → Your Activity Across Facebook

Note: the above is from ChatGPT. YMMV

FB will still keep all of your info on its servers somewhere.

In fact, Zuckerberg & co. keeps “shadow profiles” on people who have never even been members of Facebook.

His "profiles" and "shadow profiles" should be illegal and banned (although verifying that the profiles are gone would likely be impossible)...

and they'll kick you off. It's happened to me twice, and though I had been on FB since the Myspace and Live Journal days, I was pretty much done with it, anyway.

9. I don't think FB info is deletable

One reason why I never joined meta, and forbade my friends to post my pic. I think you are correct with your assessment.

As I understand it, you can remove images from your page, but Zuck retains the image on their servers to use in training AI and facial rec. I don't know what happens to textual info, personal data.

Enraging, isn't it?

Zuck colluded with Cambridge Analytica to give T the Electrocute College in 2016, illegally sharing personal info of users to allow micro-targeting of pol ads. FB got fined some piddling tens of thousands for breaking the law. Good investment - meta is getting billions in return.

I posted extensively several years ago on how meta uses a tracking pixel to spy on people's medical information. Abortion rights and privacy proponents documented it and accused meta of enabling prosecutions of people seeking out-of-state reproductive care.

If there's that little "f" icon on a webpage, zuck is recording. The invisible "Meta" pixel allows Zuck to track all sorts of things about you. You might need to be a meta user for that to happen. You also need to enable scripts, another reason why I use NoScript.

The question is, how did someone become a zillionaire from a "free" service? Personal info is $$$. Clix are $$$. Wouldn't YOU like to afford a grossly huge compound in Hawaii?

The same holds for xitter, blacksky, et al. They're all evil. Invariably, when I see someone post a factoid from sociogarch media, it takes me only seconds to find a non-sociogarch source. Some of our colleagues here seem to do nothing but post empty links monetizing Musk with clix. Is it really that hard to type a sentence or two?

If the service is free, YOU are the product.

Please don't feed the vultures.

10. It was a process

I retrieved what I valued ( pics, art, poetry ) and "deleted" my data (posts) first before cancell8ng m6 account and deleting the app.

It was a work of congress and it begged for me not to do it and I am not convinced my personal data has been truly purged, hopefully not a target of AI
