(5,044 posts)5. I remember watching Roy Obison and background guitarists performing "Oh, Pretty Woman" on NBC's "Shindig."
The date would have been somewhere from September to December 1964.
"Shindig" featured performances of many artists and groups which went on to become highly regarded in rock and roll history. I do not a know where the performances were recorded. I think they were all recorded prior to their showing on the TV episodes. It seems that the performances were real, not lip-synced, and done in front of a live audience. The following performance of "Oh, Pretty Woman" includes female screams from the audience:
