New photos from the USS Abraham Lincoln show service members receiving minimal food portions as reports grow that some troops have lost significant weight and aren’t receiving care packages—while the Pentagon denies any shortages. (Newsweek)

Can't have people posting pix of reality when their boss is lying through his teeth... again. Kegsbreath is a lyin' sack of shit.
The Honest Abe crews more than 5,000 people, and the assholes that sent them into harm's way didn't stock the vessel with enough food to feed them all?!!? Real smart.

Sex sells in the news media. Disrespecting the Military personnel who are serving our country apparently isn't "sexy" enough to be a lead story.

In September 2025, the U.S. Department of Defense under Secretary Pete Hegseth reportedly oversaw a "use-it-or-lose-it" spending spree, totaling $93.4 billion in grants and contracts for the month.

No kidding, we live in a small deep red Southern town, and locals on the town's Facebook pages have said that "at least they had a real feast" with Hegseth's haul, which...as we all know...didn't get anywhere NEAR the average Military member.

Even the Vegetarian ones. Better vitamin, carb, and protein balance, and 3500 -5k calories per pack as needed.
My grandkids love to take the $5.99 training packs to the park for day trips with a water bottle; they typically go with a pasta or rice hot meal, and there's at least 3 types of snacks and a fruit punch or lemonade hydration vitamin drink to go with it.

FWIW, even a 1960's MRE comprised of tabasco sauce, fatty tinned meals, hard crackers, chocolate and chewing gum I had once at a training GQ is way better than what is on the tray in those pictures.

Lunch looked like a kabob with old meat, peppers, and onions, with fried rice and cabbage, I think? Saw shredded cabbage, and maybe rice?
Chipped Beef on toast can be fantastic.

It can also be gag-inducing, especially if it's being used to hide old bread close to being bold it, old processed meat strips, and a watered down bechamel sauce or even a roux made with powdered milk.

Both the US and Canada fed their troops exceptionally well during that time. It may not have borne any resemblance to fine dining, but, barring exceptional circumstances, our service people had fuel to be able to do what was done.

Canada went from a standing start - a prewar military of 4500 people - and virtually no infrastructure to being able to give its people 3800 calories a day. Ir was something that POWs in both Canada and the US were left gobsmacked over. The modern, bustling countries fed their prisoners MUCH better than had their POWs own countries, and tthey had arrived on this side of the pond to expecting starving civilians barely hanging on to the ruins of their lives and found an industrial capacity that Germany could not POSSIBLY compete with. As one German agent put it in a missive about "What the hell are we doing?" he said that America had grain fields as big as Germany.

The pictures above remind me of the 40-mile Convoy To Nowhere in the first days of the (second) Ukraine invasion.
