So, gas was three different prices at Costco today (MI). The GasBuddy dude on Bluesky is completely riled up:

SECOND SPIKE ALERT: #GasPrices appear to be rising to .99/gal in #Michigan today. This is a price cycle to an elevated amount due to the Iran situation and refinery issues.

a double spike day I don't believe in my ~20 years I've ever seen this- .79, then updated to .99. unprecedented. what's even more wild that the market has completely gone insane is that all 3 markets are the SAME- MI/IN/OH

man, just a wild, wild day, and it's not over, folks. sorry.

Fortunately, my area is well below the average, but it has surpassed the high mark.

a nuclear tipped missile will not be arriving in the U.S. from Iran anytime soon. And that restful feeling has only cost us $25 billion so far, I heard on the news today.

Feel better now? Me neither.

It hit that figure over a month ago

https://www.cnn.com/2026/04/29/politics/us-iran-war-25-billion-cost-estimate-low
Pentagon’s $25 billion cost estimate for Iran war is low and does not include cost of rebuilding US bases, sources say

The $25 billion estimate that a top Pentagon official gave to lawmakers on Wednesday for the total cost to date of the Iran war is a lowball figure that does not include the cost of repairing extensive damage suffered by US bases in the region, three people familiar with the matter told CNN.

One of the sources said the real cost estimate is closer to $40-50 billion when accounting for the costs of rebuilding US military installations and replacing destroyed assets.

I'm sure even that figure is lowballed. I expect the real cost is double that - probably fast approaching $100 billion.

I leased an EV in September. And maybe this will let some of us work from home more (to conserve gas).

My wife hates that I keep bringing this point up but HOW MANY TIMES ARE YOU GOING TO SIT THERE AND LET THEM KICK YOU IN THE JIMMIES EVERY TIME SOMEONE SNEEZES WRONG IN THE MIDDLE EAST?!?!? This is from someone who is old enough to know what a red rag hanging on a pole out front of a gas station means and odd/even rationing.
