...assassination attempt on Saturday, and by Thursday we're talking about some OTHER batshit crazy thing he's involved with. Like putting this crazy son of a bitch's picture on American passports. Ten years ago, if any sitting President had tried to put his own face on American currency, or passports, it would have been the signal to take him away in a straight jacket. But with Trump, it's just another Thursday.
Make no mistake about it. American politics was crazy and stupid BEFORE Fox News, but it's now certifiably insane. And all of this was the inevitable place we knew we'd end up when you turn the news media over to people who care more about ratings than about truth. The whole thing becomes a clown show, that's beyond parody.
Let's just dwell on that one more time:
The President survives an assassination attempt (his THIRD in less than two years) on SATURDAY, and by THURSDAY we've moved on to some other crazy shit that he's involved with. Like...
Putting his face on American passports
Withdrawing US troops from NATO bases in Germany because he's in a snit over some comment made by a European leader.
Putting his face on commemorative coins.
Slapping more gold bling around the Oval Office.
Attempting to appoint yet another unqualified Fox News yakker to a cabinet position because he thinks she's cute.
Sending yet another Carrier Group to the Strait of Hormuz for a ground invasion (and hopefully bagging Cuba on the way home).
This is nuts. It's also unsustainable. Everybody in the military had better buckle up, and prepare. Because you WILL be asked to obey illegal orders from this nutcase very soon. It's not a question of IF. Just a question of WHEN.

(183 posts)FoxNews has done this but also CNN and the 24 hour news cycle. Their bottom line is getting views and in an increasingly online world that's going to be hard when people can pick and choose not only between the Big 3 networks and Cable companies but also thousands of podcasts and influencers. It will likely get worse.
Lauren Boebert is a prime example, when politicians aren't elected for their commitment to legislate but rather how far the can push the needle on the outrage meter the system is done.
