(24,169 posts)But I hate to inform you that the DNC didnt spend $millions on consultants to learn how to listen to men to turn around and nominate a woman again in 2028.
The good news is, by 2036 that calcified, entrenched system should be gone, clearing the path for Senator Ocasio-Cortez to win the Nomination.

Of those not mentioned in the polls, Chris Murphy has piqued my interest.
How about you?

(24,169 posts)Whitmer did what she had to do for the people of her state.
She doesnt need your forgiveness, she has delivered for her state time and time again, with the thinnest of legislative majorities.
She governed fearlessly and unhesitatingly, an example other Dems could learn from.

(4,054 posts)Put it this way, the "Year 2000" version of Al Gore was fairly dripping with charisma in comparison to Mark Kelly.
Kelly is an amazing man and I'm WAY happy he's my senator. But friends, he is a *boring* orator. He's Cabinet material though to be sure, I'd love to see him there, but he will never win POTUS. It's an absolute shame, too, because I think he'd BE great at it.

(60,475 posts)I know them both, though, and my personal favorable impression is in no way an indication of how either of them would go down in a media-oriented campaign where 80% of the media is right-wing owned, and will try to portray all Democratic candidates in a negative light (remember Howard Dean). I dont see Rachel Maddow asking me onto her show for me to tell the country my views on the subject 😛.

(11,040 posts)Shes been extremely active!!!!
Shes been one of the most vocal Dems pushing for release of Epstein files. In fact, she is known as one of the most active of all Congress in asking for transparency of the files.
She has viewed the files calling them very dark and has met and had meetings with survivors.
On top of that - she is anti-war. She promoted and voted for War Resolutions Act to stop action in Iran.
Co-sponsored Block the Bombs Act.
AND - shes working with youth, Shes very active on social media and X pulling in the younger Dems to go to Dem summer school for high school & college kids.
(From X) - Excited to announce that I will be joining @Jamie_Raskin and @NatlDemSummer as an official Democracy Summer partner to help educate and train a new generation of political activists and leaders! College and high school students, apply here: democracy-summer.breezy.hr/p/c5d6840c7d04
Shes my NM Rep, she is an extremely active Rep -,right now shes on the road traveling around NM meeting with constituents, she articulate and happens to be pretty too!

(2,849 posts)This is not an election to take another chance on a woman as our candidate. Really makes me sad to feel that way but I think AZJonnie is correct that two males would be prudent. Im thinking Pritzker and Beshear might be a good ticket. And fill every possible position in the administration with strong smart women.

but no women. VP, cabinet position, supreme court justice - that's what we've managed to do. There will be a female president at some point, I'm just not convinced at this point that it will be in my lifetime.

(26,649 posts)Cabinet positions have real power, and they get things done.
I am NOT giving in to misogyny, but "hearts and minds" change rarely and slowly in most cases.
Ibran X. Kendi's conclusion hit me pretty hard. In essence, Al Davis' JUST WIN, BABY.

Speaking strategically, I would love to see candidate/President Rafael Warnock blow up the entire hypocritical, and in my mind, heretical "CINO" Nationalism movement. As heir to Dr. Martin Luther King's podium at First Street Baptist Church, I am sure that without being religious in his work, by his example, stuff their gospel of hate up their sorry asses.
But whatever works is fine. I see Putin and Netanyahu simultaneously losing their positions (and more) for the hell they have brought upon the planet.
Mexico outsmarted us. What dumbshit fools in the U.S. to live hate, projection and overall cult mentality.
The wool keeps being pulled over their eyes.

THANK YOU, SIR. MAY I HAVE ANOTHER?

How Cara Spencer won the mayors raceand what comes next...
...
On Tuesday, Cara Spencer was elected mayor of the city of St. Louis in an avalanche, winning nearly two-thirds of the vote. Spencers victory was expected, but the margin surprised many and means shell assume office as mayor on Tuesday with a clear mandate.
...
What comes first for Spencer?
Spencer is known for preferring to handle things herselfwhether its managing her own media relations or installing her own stop sign. A booster will tell you shes not afraid to be in the trenches. A detractor will tell you she micromanages. One close observer of city politics cautions, City government is too big to micromanage. The staff that Cara surrounds herself with will be absolutely key. Priority number one must be to put staff in place that she can trust will do a good job, then let them

Klobuchar has a longer legislative record, and her depth and breadth of experience is valuable. IMO she is excellent in public interviews. She gives well-informed and well formed answers to interviewers questions. I read her book Anitrust. It is a bit redundant, but explains the issue clearly.
Spanberger is also well spoken. Answers questions clearly, and concisely. Worked at CIA, which may help facing the disaster emerging under Trump.
I supported and voted for Harris, but I dont think she is a good extemporaneous speaker, and we need someone who is.

(60,475 posts)I could easily see Amy Klobuchar or Elissa Slotkin as VP nominee.
I see both POTUS and VP as wide open for now. Plenty of qualified candidates, some with minor drawbacks, but nothing insurmountable. So far, I see no one with Obamas charisma or Hillarys phalanx of qualifications, but that isnt necessary to win. Just look at Bush II or Trump. As in 2008, logic would dictate that securing the Democratic nomination should be enough to secure the presidency. But history never follows exactly the path that logic would dictate, or else there never would have been a Trump administrationor even a Cheney/Bush administration, for that matter.
