the fact that something has been planned for decades doesn't mean it was a good plan. It's possible to plan very badly for decades; happens all the time.

it’s prolly cuz it’s a bad idea.
the pentagon likely has had plans for an iran war for decades. they game out all kinds of wars. and that’s how they figure out which 1s are stupid ideas.
