South Carolina Gov. Henry McMaster (R) is expected to call lawmakers back for a special session to redraw the states congressional map and eliminate its lone majority-Black district after the state Senate appeared to derail the effort earlier this week.
Local reports suggest McMaster will be calling lawmakers back to the State House Friday morning, though an official announcement from the governors office was still pending as of Wednesday afternoon.
The move would reopen a path for South Carolina Republicans to target the states only Democratic congressional seat, a majority-Black district held by Rep. Jim Clyburn.
The development comes after the Senate rejected a redistricting measure pushed by President Donald Trump and national Republicans. The proposal needed a two-thirds vote to remain alive after the legislature adjourns Thursday, but it fell short after five Republicans joined Democrats in opposition.

Maybe they have seen the polls, even white folks don't like the decision made by those 6 RW US SC.

(35,019 posts)Our imbecile Governor is too fucking stupid to understand that the reason those 5 Republicans voted against the redistricting was because the new map was more likely to lose them seats, especially given the current climate. It was yet another "dummymander." They have already gerrymandered this state as much as they possibly can, and parts of it, like Greenville are becoming more Democratic. So, they're already going to have trouble, even without this illegal redistricting shit.
McMaster has had his head stuck so far up Trump's ass, you can't tell it from Lindsey Graham's head.
