Trump "defending" us against imaginary nukes, reminiscent of Evil Dick Cheney's Kerry warning that "we'll get hit again"

“It’s absolutely essential that eight weeks from today, on Nov. 2, we make the right choice, because if we make the wrong choice then the danger is that we’ll get hit again and we’ll be hit in a way that will be devastating from the standpoint of the United States,” Cheney told supporters at a town-hall meeting Tuesday.

However, the country rallied around the only President we had, ignoring any shortcomings. That made any response blaming Bush for that likely to backfire enormously among anyone but people like us.

The fact that Kerry had decades of foreign policy experience and was a very decorated war hero, who stunned Congress as a young vet with his eloquence speaking about war was ignored as were the many weaknesses of Bush/Cheney.

Bush, Cheney, Rumsfeld, Powell, Rice, et all, were never tried for war crimes is the reason we are where we are today.

Iran-Contra?
The other Reagan era criminals?

Basically everything after Nixon resigned has been a straight line descent into this current morass.

Reagan begat Bush 1
Bush 1 begat Bush 2
Bush 2 begat Palin
Palin begat Tea Party
Tea Party begat "Hell No you can't" Boehner
Which in turn set the stage for Trump and the bottom seems to recede further by the second.

Pardoned, yes. And that should have been the first red flag to put limits on pardon power.

The SCOTUS inflection point I leave at Biden's doorstep, he was the deciding vote that allowed Thomas nomination to go to a full vote of the senate, when he could have killed it in committee. The SCOTUS started ruling with utter disregard for democracy in Bush v. Gore

Iranians acquiring a nuke. The question came up as to why all the countries who have nukes have been restrained from using them. They all know using a nuke will cause irreparable harm to their own country. Are the Iranians so insane as to bring that harm on their people? We all thought not.
What Iran, looking to fortify its defenses, wants is to be able to tell us to fry ice. They seem to have done so without one.
We all agreed, it is the game of fear that motivates some of our politicians to maintain power.
Would that we all took nukes off the table, but we turned a blind eye to Israel's getting one.
Obama got a deal to monitor Iran's wanting to get off fossil fuels.
