I believe we're in the diminishing returns phase of this particular cultural attack. This is absolutely not to diminish the increasing injustices that the GOP has continued to inflict on trans people via legislation -- that is a real problem. But as an effective political attack, I think this peaked in 2024.

Many low-info voters were bamboozled by the GOP's relentless attacks on trans people during the 2024 election, and voted accordingly. Those same low-info voters are now a year and a half into Trump's second term, and they are struggling with rising inflation and higher costs of living, a huge jump in gas prices, a masked Gestapo roaming the country brutalizing innocent people, and a pointless war in Iran that nobody asked for. Meanwhile, Trump is old, tired, deranged, and clearly not up to the task of leading the country anywhere good.

Voters are going to be looking for change this year, and IMO, the stale, warmed-over bigotry that Miller is dabbling in here is going to be mostly ignored, because right now most cis people have far bigger problems going on in their lives than worrying about the imaginary threat of trans people.

Paxton's close friend pleaded guilty in April to indecent assault and displaying harmful materials to a minor. His deal called for just one day in jail with credit for time served.

I think the 'transgender' assertions from the RW won't really make much of a dent given Paxton's mad-hatter's hatful of material.

The same gumshoes who've been busy unearthing Obama's birth records since 2008 will now dig up Talarico's medical records.

I don’t know what Talarico’s sexual inclinations are, and they’re none of my business (I don’t think they’re any of Steve Miller’s, Donald Trump’s, or Ken Paxton’s either). I do do know that there are more older bachelors out there than right-wing propaganda liars and whores want to admit to and that many of them stay single for reasons that have nothing to do with what gender they’re attracted to.

I think Talarico deserves the benefit of the doubt for not yet having the right life-partner and the speculators should shut the Eff up.
