Think about it. Let's say you're a member of the next Democratic Administration's White House staff, and you've been assigned to a working group tasked with devising a strategy to (ahem) make America great again.

The temptation to focus on loudly undoing all the executive orders and super-stupid laws would be overwhelming, of course. As would the urge to start restoring some dignity to the various national monuments and historical properties. And certainly, those things should be set in hand without delay, along with replacing the talent drain in the Federal civil service.

But the big, splashy thing you want to emphasize MOST, carefully allocate effective resources to, and provide regular press conferences and bulletins about?

The corruption.

There is room for honest ideological difference in Americans' perceptions of The Regime's various 'governing' actions - the whole MAGAt agenda, repulsive as it may be, will still have considerable support among a horrifyingly substantial minority of American voters. The more they percieve the new Democratic Administration's focus is on undoing what The Regime has "accomplished" in actual government action, the more they are likely to harden into an opposition dedicated to wresting control back ASAP, and they will be amply funded by the oligarchs and foreign malactors who funded the first silent, slow-motion coup to install The Regime.

But the corruption... Americans can be convinced that someone 'getting away with' incredible amounts of money using outright deception, theft, illegal manipulation, etc. is taking THEIR money, THEIR tax dollars, THEIR public resources (because that's exactly what is happening) and doing the dirty on THEM. And that is the way to detach them from their cult leaders. Focus on the grift.

Stories about the griftery, deliberately framed, can be compelling, must-watch narratives in the public awareness. They can go viral. They can grab.

And by providing us with so MUCH material, so BRAZENLY, The Regime is knotting a noose for its own neck. If we have the wits to pick it up and use it, we can make a serious start on helping America rise from the ashes and rejoin the grownup nations doing grownup things to make the world better for our grandchildren's children.
