...that you can leave California, but California never leaves you. Never. It's the same thing as my being born in Massachusetts and being a life-long Red Sox booster. When I see a Californian like Ted Lieu, it reminds me of the great pride I had in being able to call myself a Californian.

Republicans like to paint a picture of California in the most simplistic and negative terms. But it is NOT EASY to live there. You have to WORK at it. And you do it because it's worth it.

So I'm not some knuckle-dragging cousin dater who's formed my opinions by whatever Fox told me to think. I was there. And Rep. Lieu doing something like this is like watching the Red Sox knock one out of the park.

Ted Lieu is not my representative, but he is a true Californian and speaks the Truth. I really appreciate all that he does.

we just returned from three weeks in the UK seeing Castles, Cathedrals, Abbeys and ruins. Everyone we met was pleasant and kind. When asked where we were from, we replied “California”, and their response was always a look of relief and… “Cool!”.
Like you, I would never willingly leave California. For all its much-over-blown faults, it’s still the best place to live, and for me, the best chance we have to make some social progress and try to bridge the widening chasm between disparate political and cultural groups, and learn to get along.

They both lost their minds going on and on about what a hellhole California is. That just shows what they know and it's fine with me that I will never run into those morons while I'm there.
