We should make our first vote in january repealing, in it's entirety, fucking Comstock Act.
It will send a message to the true assholes in this country that we are not fucking around with them anymore, that were tired of this bullshit from them, and that we don't give a single fuck anymore about their mysogny OR their snowflake feelings.
Don't RUN on dumb culture war nonsense, but make damn sure they know that both the time for their antiquated nonsense, and our patience with it, IS AT ITS FUCKING END.
It will give them something to level-set against when we start threatening Inherent Contempt for ignoring our lawful Congressional subpoenas (which they damn sure will).

(7,542 posts)For a dipshit like trump to win the presidency and get awarded a republican controlled congress was too much for me.
We need to do better in keeping voters in the middle from second guessing our agenda.

(11,819 posts)No, they won't like it, but if we do voluntary single payer, where if you're signed up your premium is a hundred bucks a month and the rest of the bill just goes to the treasury, yeah there will be political damage from that. BUT.
Already, the frustration is rising from missing ACA subsidies...IMAGINE THE RAGE what would happen ten years from now, if the gop tried to strip that back from 100 million red-hat and blue-collar Americans.
This time, we need to put our money where our mouth is, and be willing to take the short term hit for it, if for no other reason than we know how to make it work (simple) this time. If we do that plus abolish all federal taxes for individual incomes LESS than say, 150K a year (minus social security, etc), that's a majority the Republicans will have nothing to run against until 2050.
What, back-bench culture war nonsense? Don't make me laugh, gop!
But we have to be willing to do it, and we have to be willing to demand that our Majority demand it, too.
Besides. If the ACA IS repealed, the 'free market' can go back to fucking over whoever can still afford to BE fucked by them, and that won't be YOU cause you're not IN the Free Market system, cause YOU signed up for federal protections from that, not because the Democrat Party thinks you need to be babysat, but because we think you're smart enough to know who's gonna actually give a fuck about You and Yours.

(38,144 posts)A clean vote. Just the JLVRA.
It's hard to think about the cost of living when you aren't viewed as full human being or American. The folks that had "principles and reasons" in 2016 and 2024 owe it to Black Americans.
We are owed this. Not the other one that was floating around a few years ago as an add on.
That one can be done separately.
We won't be included in ANY of the progressive home buying, education, health care, etc. etc. initiatives. I can almost guarantee that the implementation will be at the state level as many social programs are. Black Americans in places like South Carolina, Mississippi, Alabama, Tennessee, etc. etc. will be deliberately shut out of the largesse by their State Governments.
There's just one thing that centers us - and the dominant culture and people of color can have the rest. Just give us our voting rights.
