seemed to be a neighborhood thing among male children,
although not something that I did or even attempted to do--
(I thought it rather stupid).

or was … a guilty 8 or 9 year old. I understand you though. The younger of my two sons would also never have attempted to do for the same reason. At 40, he’s still too smart for his britches.
