Washington city water that refilled the Reflecting Pool has phosphate in it.

It stops lead from leaching from pipes. It encourages algae.

Yesterday

Sewage containing phosphates was getting into waterways, and causing harmful algal blooms. One of the biggest sources was laundry detergents.
