Breaking News: President Toddler will not sign the bi-partisan housing bill...

...until the "SAVE America" act is passed.

https://www.nbcnews.com/politics/donald-trump/trump-cancels-plan-sign-major-housing-bill-fights-congress-act-rcna351558

The Constitution chimed in and said, "If any Bill shall not be returned by the President within ten Days (Sundays excepted) after it shall have been presented to him, the Same shall be a Law, in like Manner as if he had signed it, unless the Congress by their Adjournment prevent its Return..."

So, Congress just has to stay in session for 10 days....

Sad to say, but if Republicans support it then it is highly likely that this bill is not a good deal for the American people, but it still just seems like such a funny stupid thing for Ol' [REDACTED] to do.

Your move Congress....

4. Review your constitution

The president has the power to veto a bill..

To veto a bill, he just has to return the unsigned bill to congress, with his objections, within ten days.

The only way it becomes law without his signature is if he doesn't sign it and also doesn't return it with objections within ten days.

Otherwise, presidential approval of bills would be essentially unnecessary.

5. He didn't threaten to veto it because he knows it would be overridden.

The lower chamber passed the bill by a vote of 358-32; the Senate 85-5.

It's a stupid BS stunt and he knows it--well, SHOULD know it. He may actually not know it and think that all he has to do is not sign it, but the Constitution says he has to weigh in or it becomes law automatically if Congress is in session.

Yes, I did review my Constitution...thanks!

8. That will only delay it until they are back in session and send it back again.

But it is also why I said it was now congresses' move.

They could technically stay in session with only a few key people in town. If it is really important then why not do that?

My real point was that there is not a single reason for them to allow [REDACTED] to force some action on the "SAVE America" act when they can override a veto and also get it passed by just staying in session for ten days.

But everyone is acting like this is some sort of big deal.

Why doesn't Congress just tell him to go take a swim in the reflecting pool?

11. MaddowBlog-'It's a yawn': Trump just doesn't care about bipartisan bill to address housing crisis
Thu Jul 2, 2026, 01:22 PM

The president is guided by his obsessions. Helping Americans deal with an affordability crisis just doesn’t capture and keep his attention.

Trump is guided by his obsessions and personal grievances, and he just can’t bring himself to give a damn about the housing crisis.

But just as notably, he also can’t seem to hide his indifference. He doesn’t care, and he wants you to know that he doesn’t care.

To hear House Speaker Mike Johnson tell it, proponents of the bipartisan housing bill that cleared Capitol Hill last week have nothing to worry about. Asked about Donald Trump and the future of the 21st Century ROAD to Housing legislation, the Louisiana Republican told USA Today, “He won’t veto the bill.

Time will tell whether the president makes Johnson appear foolish, but in the meantime, as Trump weighs his options, he continues to make clear that he just doesn’t much care about the proposal sitting on his desk.

Q: Will you sign that housing bill?

TRUMP: It hasn't been sent to me yet. It's coming I understand, and then I'll make the determination. Big deal. It's a yawn.

....As part of the same exchange, the Republican added that the legislation is “so unimportant” when compared with the anti-voting measure he’s desperate to get through Congress.....

The president has raised some vague concerns about the substance of the package, but his Monday comments hinted at a different kind of problem: Trump simply finds this boring......

The president is guided by his obsessions and personal grievances — election conspiracy theories, assorted renovation projects, etc. — and helping Americans deal with an affordability crisis just doesn’t capture and keep his attention.

What’s amazing about this isn’t just his indifference, which is striking enough, but also his willingness to tell people just how little he cares. This is the same president who’s also said, “I don’t think about Americans’ financial situation,” “I love the inflation” and “I don’t want to drive housing prices down.”

Many Americans voted for Trump in 2024, believing his rhetoric about lowering costs and addressing the cost of living. Two years later, his scam has been made plain.
