Imagine . . .

Imagine you are one of Justice Amy Comey Bryant’s two adopted Haitian children and you ask her to explain why she voted to expel from the US 330,000 people just like you.

She has several children adopted from other countries. Foreign child adoptions are a big thing for bible-thumpers like Justice Bryant . They like to parade their adopted kids around so we can all praise her for saving the kids from their shithole country.

Let's hope she is honest and says that on tape.

Just try once to not tell a lie.

I know her Catholicism embraces some pretty strange beliefs, beliefs not in the Church's official doctrine. Can anyone point me to the journalistic research exploring the theme of her and her husband's extremist Catholicism?

Amy Coney Barrett’s Christian Group Probed by FBI: What We Know

The FBI has reportedly interviewed a number of individuals who alleged they were abused by members of a Christian group that counts Supreme Court Justice Amy Coney Barrett as a member.

Barrett's affiliation with People of Praise, a conservative religious group that elevates the role of men, drew scrutiny ahead of her appointment to the highest court in the nation. One former member told Newsweek in 2020 that women are expected to be "absolutely obedient" to their husbands and the men in the group and those who aren't are "shamed, shunned, humiliated."

At least five individuals have been contacted by the FBI, a spokesperson for a group called PoP Survivors confirmed to Newsweek on Tuesday. The development was first reported by The Guardian.

PoP Survivors has engaged in a years-long effort calling for the group, based in South Bend, Indiana, to be investigated for its handling of sexual abuse allegations. “We showed the FBI a pattern of sexual abuse and cover-up in the People of Praise spanning decades. This involves pressuring victims not to go to law enforcement, moving perpetrators around, and claiming perpetrators had been 'healed' rather than reporting them to law enforcement."

13. FBI investigations, belief in the absolute subordination of women, accusations of sexual abuse?

Could be a problem for a Supreme Court Justice in a SCOTUS that has already slavishly subordinated itself to the racist leadership of John Roberts. Yeah, that cult membership might indicate something of the way she thinks about legal issues. Mostly, though, the question is whether she thinks about them at all or just asks Jesse, her husband. Maybe she doesn't even have to ask because he just tells her, without being asked.

I've taken to referring to her as "OfJesse" but I doubt it'll catch on.
