And like a Pavlov's dog, Republican senator calls for constitutional amendment restricting birthright citizenship

Republican senator calls for constitutional amendment restricting birthright citizenship
By MATT BROWN

Sen. Eric Schmitt of Missouri called the Supreme Court’s decision “wrong, dangerous, and disastrous for American sovereignty and the American people.” He denounced the decision’s majority, including “squish conservatives,” in a post on X.

Schmitt added that Congress may need to act to restrict birthright citizenship following the court’s ruling.

“I will be announcing a forthcoming constitutional amendment to restore the sacred bond between American citizens and their government,” Schmitt wrote.

He said the amendment “will ensure that citizenship once again reflects allegiance, permanence, and membership in the American nation.”

We still haven't been able to ratify the Equal Rights Amendment., and we've been at that since 1978.

Look upon this, Americans celebrating the 250th anniversary of the nation, and despair.

6. Actually, the Equal Rights Amendment was first introduced in Congress in 1923.

So, 103 years on that one. Amendments rarely happen fast, but slow-walking or restricting women's rights seems to be the way we do things here.

The maga- mourners can complain all they like.
Historians will write it correctly, that we didn't allow ourselves to celebrate, until the neighborhood bully was gone from the party.

Happy 250-ish (like juneteenth, but for white working class non-college educated suburban Facebook moms with idjits for husbands.

5. He can call all he likes, that's built in to our system, getting an amendment passed is not

And once it is passed it must be ratified, and that isn't a guarantee either.

Somethin as milchtoast as the Equal RIghts Amendment never got the needed support

I don't really thing doing away with birthright citizsnship via a constitutional amendment has the survival chances of a fart in a whirlwind

The only sacred bond you hold dear is the one between you and your corporate owners.
We need a constitutional amendment to remove
all private and corporate money from public elections so you useless idiots have to actually campaign on your accomplishments and ideas.

13. Gonna Kick Out The Top Soccer Scorer?

The top scorer on Team USA in the World Cup, Folarin Balogun, is a birthright citizen. His Nigerian/English parents were visiting New York when his mom went into labor. He was born in Brooklyn. He chose to play for Team USA rather than England or Nigeria. Do they want us to kick him off of the team?

He knows good and well an amendment isn't happening. Notice he didnt entertain the idea of legislation. He's saying they cant do anything without saying it.
