I was talking to Ms. Betrayus* this morning and she said something that reminded me of a quote

from my favorite author:

"There is a tragic flaw in our precious Constitution, and I don't know what can be done to fix it. This is it: Only nut cases want to be president." — Kurt Vonnegut

* We're not actually married, but have been in a relationship for over 13 years now. She moved from Seattle in 2013 to live with me here in Colorado.

Douglas Adams: It is a well-known fact that those people who most want to rule people are, ipso facto, those least suited to do it... anyone who is capable of getting themselves made President should on no account be allowed to do the job.

The basic idea goes back to Plato
