Lost in all the Taylor Swift wedding hoopla

is the fact that the couple recently donated twenty six million dollars to various charities. One of the charities was Imagination Library, Dolly Parton's charity. Dolly recorded a funny thank you video in which she thanked the couple and said that she "wanted their firstborn" because he or she was sure to be a wonderful person.

to Taylor, her hubby to be and Dolly. Hope lots of people are helped by their donations.

It's kind of infuriating to see it and phrases like that (i.e. "what they're worth" )because it puts a spotlight on some people's ignorance and gullibility.

Net worth is assets minus liabilities. What you own minus what you owe. It is NOT available cash on hand. To realize the figure known as her net worth, TS would need to sell everything she owns. Then, after paying any and all outstanding loans, invoices, and other liabilities, only then would she have access to an amount of cash equivalent to her net worth.

It is depressing that helping kids, seniors, and the poor in this country depends on private charity or kowtowing to religious organizations.

If the people bitching that they gave too little at least have the consistency to vote for higher taxes on the wealthy, there's some consistency there.

But I'm betting a bunch of complainers are "lower my taxes" types who just don't like the couple's politics.

I was on a flight that weekend from Panamá to MSY, and the joy on that airplane. I didn’t know it was a Swiftie weekend, but the pilot played her music. The flight attendant traded bracelets or whatever that deal was. The entire flight was hilarious and my favorite experience in the air ever.
It took me all these decades to really enjoy flying. And all these teens/ twenty something’s started calling me Grandpa, and it was SO the opposite of insulting.

This country would be such a better place. Sadly wealthy elites are very greedy and usually only "help" others including charities when it directly benefits them like say a huge tax write off. This is why we need to tax them under the same rates Eisenhower taxed them.

This billionaire adoration for the equivalent of throwing out their pocket change, is disgusting.

$26 million dollars is a fraction of a fraction of her wealth. She will literally make that money back and then some before her head hits the pillow the day she gave it a way.

All billionaires are scum.

it was more travel than during her entire eras tour. it is obscene and indefensible.

I dont think anyone deserves such privilege, but some people still put others up on pedestals and make excuses for billionaires.

and again, comparing my footprint (with me not even owning a car) with her jet travel, not to mention all the merchandising she does and all the fans traveling on planes to her shows is laughable. the argument boils down to emotions for her and granting some people special privileges to harm the environment
