Well, that DC fireworks display is certainly big. Real big.

"Big" seems to mean more redundant barges in a wider field and a greater density of explosions.

It doesn't mean better.

When there's so much going on at once, it's hard to appreciate anything about it except for its scale.

A row of stations all shooting off identical fireworks simultaneously. About as interesting as a row of daisies all exactly alike.

My BIL and nephew are competing for the family's fireworks attentions. One set off fireworks yesterday, the other today. (Way more fireworks than I need . . . but family.) Both shows were more interesting (variety, timing) than these.

I’m sure they are eating this up. They see this as a tribute to Trump, not America. Big, loud, and brash is all they like.

9. It's odd that I have a feeling similar to the night Obama was elected.

My memories of the assassinations of MLK, JFK, and RFK were (even then) too vivid to really enjoy the night out of fear history would repeat itself.

In an oddly similar emotional way - I feel cheated out of being able to enjoy celebrating 250, the way we celebrated 200 in 1976.

Joint armed forces orchestra.

Actually a smart move. And I'm glad to hear them instead of the felon droning on.

16. Yikes. They've set some off from the WW2 memorial itself, the small oval at the end of the reflecting pool..

That seems a bit reckless. I'm keeping a good thought for Abe.
