The quantity of the Trump fireworks was a problem last night.
The National Mall fireworks were so poorly planned that you couldnt even view the finale through the smoke (my friends view from Arlington) 💀💀💀 What an absolutely joke and waste of money.

Like you dont launch 850k fireworks over 40 min with zero place for the smoke to go. This is showing the beginning, 15 min in, 30 min in, and the end. The air was filled with smoke, there was no rhyme or reason.

we have, empirically, discovered that there is such a thing as Too Many Fireworks

This looks more like an attack than a fireworks show.

(1,792 posts)When the people in charge of decisions lack care, concern, or an ability to understand cause and effect, e.g., connect the dots on any matter, we aren't surprised.
We must end this fiasco of ignorance by steamrolling the clowns behind this circus (and others). Vanquish them. Doing so will prove to be the instructive legacy of this grotesquely excessive spectacle.

(57,007 posts)the rain will push even a small town display's smoke back to the ground. to be fair the weather had a part in fucking up the fuckhead's plans. though there is no reason whatsoever to be fair to him.

(15,757 posts)The thing that made the Big Bay Boom misfire event so spectacular was the 7k fireworks all went off over 90 seconds.
That was a damn cool, albeit short and alarmingly loud, fireworks show.
I remember seeing most of it from my back porch, figuring out what was going on, and hoping no one had gotten hurt.
By the time the smoke started collecting. it was pretty much over.
If it had been planned, and we had tried to then do the same thing 8 more times, you wouldn't be able to see a damn thing by the time the third set finished, even with a reliable wind disbursing smoke.
Anyone who ever been part of a professional fireworks show planning (maybe someone in the US Parks Department?) could have given the Palm Beach "Florida's Best Fireworks and Ammo" shop owner and GOP donor the organizers obviously chose to run the show some real advice on how to stage the show, even if they had to delay it a day instead of waiting until midnight to recreate the British attack on DC in 1812.

(9,246 posts)Free show after Oban fireworks fiasco
The company behind a fireworks display in Oban which lasted just 50 seconds has offered to provide another show free of charge later in the month.
A technical hitch meant that all £6,000 worth of fireworks at the bonfire night display went off within a minute instead of the scheduled 20 minutes.
Councillor Roddy McCuish, who helped to organise the show, said the public had been "absolutely brilliant".
...
Mr McCuish said: "It was like daylight. It was absolutely fantastic."
He said when the display stopped after a minute he thought it had "got out of synch" with the music.
"When I did announce 'that was it', people thought I was joking," he said.
"The operative explained to me there had been a terrible malfunction."

(78,412 posts)of his catheter to his right hand, lied about the size of the crowd, had so many fireworks that the smoke was so thick you couldn't see the display, fell asleep during the fireworks, and then left the metro D.C. area with so much air pollution that people were told not to go outside this AM.
GOOD JOB DONNY!
Is this all just me? This is insanity.

(46,447 posts)And it's not the first time smoke has obscured the DC Fourth of July fireworks. In particular, in 2016, PBS took a lot of criticism for substituting previously recorded fireworks in place of the DC fireworks display that was obscured by smoke.
