ME-SEN: Veterans groups call on Platner to leave Maine Senate race
At least three veterans organizations are calling on Graham Platner, the Democratic candidate for Senate in Maine, to drop out of his race following a new allegation of sexual assault.
Veterans For Responsible Leadership is rescinding its endorsement of Graham Platner for U.S. Senate, effective immediately, following the credible sexual assault allegation reported this week by Politico, the group wrote on social platform X late Monday.
The report in question published an account from Maine resident Jenny Racicot, who said she dated Platner. Racicot alleged the oyster farmer entered her home uninvited in 2021 and forced her to have sex with him while he was intoxicated.
Platner, who has faced a string of scandals during the course of his Senate campaign, denied the new accusation in a Monday video posted shortly after the article was published by Politico, saying his campaign is taking the time to reflect on the best path forward.
