Forever stamps inceasing from 78 cents

to 82 cents Sunday. In 1932 stamps were increased from 2 cents to 3 cents. They stayed at 3 cents for 25 years until 1958 when they went to 4 cents. Now they go up every few months.

Mercantile paid 3 cents to send my parents a bill for 5 cents. Of course you could actually buy something for 5 cents back then.

Fewer services, slower transit times, far less reliable than it was just a few years ago.

under both Trump administrations, the GOP is destroying our Postal System. The results are easy to see.

The most significant reason is that they hate any program that is not private....and in order to push this agenda the GOP Congress passed laws to force the Postal Service to pre-fund their retirement responsibilities - unlike any agency or business.

The second reason is that about 91% of USPS employees (over 500,000 workers) belong to a bargaining unit, making the Postal Service the largest unionized employer in the nation.

These GOP hardliners do not care about the people they are elected to serve.

11. Unions are a good thing...about 30% of the workforce was unionized in the 70s.

I was a union member myself for 22 of my 33 years before taking a mgmt job. It allowed me to retire at age 53 (now 75).

My point is that the GOP hates unions and Ronnie Raygun lead the fight to demonize unions when he fired the air traffic controllers in his first term.

And yes, although the Teamsters have a history of supporting the GOP that is not the norm. With unions being only about 6% of the US workforce is now unionized and the defined benefit pension is pretty much a thing of the past as are the great benefits that most union employees enjoyed.

No, the GOP does not like the postal service being a union shop at all. ☮
